Research Consent Form


PURPOSE OF RESEARCH:

You are invited to participate in an on-line study which will be conducted by Larry Newman at the Department of Psychology at the Goldsmiths University of London. This study will form part of a BSc (Hons) Degree in Psychology. The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship between personality and political affiliation.

PROCEDURES:

The study is expected to take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. If you choose to participate in this study, please select continue at the bottom of this page and you will be given further instructions.

RISKS:

This procedure is safe and is not associated with any known risks (neither health nor psychological). At the end of the experiment there will be a debriefing, that explains the research question and the structure of this experiment.


EXCLUSION CRITERIA:

Due to the nature of the research only data from participants who reside in the UK and have British citizenship can be analyzed. You furthermore have to be at least 18 years old.

PARTICIPANTSí RIGHTS:

You should not feel obliged to agree to participate. If you first agree to participate and then you change your mind, you are free to withdraw your consent and discontinue your participation at any time during the survey.Your participation in this study will be kept confidential. However, the aggregated results of the study as a whole will form part of a 3rd year research dissertation.


BENEFITS:

You may not personally benefit from participating in this research. However I hope that you are interested in the topic and read through the debriefing after participating. Maybe you will get some insight into psychological research techniques and get more interested in conducting research yourself (if that is not already the case). Furthermore I hope that this study will provide deeper insight into human cognition. The results could be applicable in various fields.
